I was born in Lucknow, where my family and extended family live. My father’s business forced us to move to Rajasthan around 2 years ago after we lived here until I was 10 years old. My parents and I moved to Udaipur, Rajasthan, but my grandparents continued to live there.
The project of my father is now done and he will soon be moving back to Lucknow. On the very day of my thirteenth birthday, I will be in my hometown, which makes me super excited.
My Early Memories of Lucknow
My parents and grandparents lived with me. I remember my grandparents, the streets of Lucknow, and the weekend trips to the nearby markets when I was a child. When I was a boy, I used to go for a morning walk with my grandfather, who would narrate his childhood experiences on the way. Whenever I see bougainvillea plants in the backyard, I would remember how fresh they were.
We used to visit the beautiful white marble temple at night with my grandmother. At our neighbourhood’s street stall, I remember the wonderful fragrance of freshly cooked kababs. My parents and I used to go to the market on weekends to do a lot of shopping and eating together.
My Favourite Spots in Lucknow
In Lucknow, you can enjoy the scrumptious food, the beautiful monuments, and the markets. My favorite spots in Lucknow are Imam Bara, Marine Drive, Hazrat Ganj market, and Bhootnath market. I have a lot of fond memories of these places.
Imam Bara is a place I have been to quite a few times. When I was very young, my parents took me to this place the first time. Some time later I went there on a school excursion. When my maternal aunt and cousins came to visit, we also went to the place. Even if I visit Imam Bara again and again, I will never get bored.
On marine drive, we often went at night. A walk along the river was very rejuvenating. My mother and I would go to the Bhootnath and Hazrat Ganj markets together for shopping. It was so much fun shopping there with so many different things.
The city of Nawabs can’t come quick enough for me. Yum! I’m craving Lucknow’s kababs and kormas. Besides visiting all my favourite places in the city, I hope to catch up with my old friends.
