Importance of Trees
Trees play a very important role in our life and without them, it will be impossible for us to survive. They provide us timber and paper. We use timber to construct houses, compartments and various tools.
Even the houses which are made of brick, the rooftop, windows and doors are still made of wood. There is a fiber present in wood called cellulose which is used to make paper. We use this paper to write and study. They also provide us firewood which is used by people who live in villages to cook food.

We get food, flowers, fresh fruits and medicines from them. These medicines are the most effective herbs in the treatment of various diseases. For example, Neem and alder are used to treat fever and many allergic reactions.
Many birds and creatures also take shelter in trees. They make nests on top of trees where they live and lay eggs. The sweet chirping of these birds soothes our mind in the morning.
They absorb all the carbon dioxide in atmosphere and supply us fresh oxygen in return. They also protect us from the scorching heat of the sun by providing us shade. Being near a tree is therapeutically important too.
Lying under the shade with cool breeze in the surroundings automatically changes our mood and calms our mind and body. They are the best places for meditation and relaxation.
They help to maintain the temperature in the atmosphere by releasing moisture. This moisture provides protection against excessive heat of sun.
They also cause rain by absorbing water from the soil and then releasing it into the atmosphere. This is the main reason that the areas where there are huge number of trees experience heavy rainfall.
Majority of the trees are long lived. One tree can even serve 10 generations of one family. That is another reason that why they are our best friends. They are a very valuable thing but unfortunately, many people do not realize this.
Now a days, people are cutting down trees for their own selfish needs without thinking about the future of this world. In the absence of trees, everyone’s life will be at stake.
There will be so much carbon dioxide in atmosphere. We will not be getting fresh supply of oxygen. Animals and birds will lose their shelter. In short, this Earth will become a desert.
The reason behind increased global warming is that number of forests are decreasing. We know that trees absorb carbon dioxide and other harmful gases and release oxygen into the atmosphere.
