Good Afternoon Everyone – How you all are doing? I wish you a wonderful day today! Welcome to Save Water, Save Earth Foundation’s 11th annual meeting, I’m Arjan Kumar, a member of the board. I am glad to see you all after a long time; I was out of the country for official reasons and thus unable to attend the previous two meetings. I have just returned home and to my dismay have discovered a serious situation of water shortage in my country. On top of this, I observe people misusing water. Our government should strictly prohibit this practice and those who are guilty of wasting water should be heavily fined.
The government should pay attention to human agency that causes pollution of water and deteriorates its quality. At the moment, water pollution is an alarming issue that is plaguing many countries in the world. It is possible to define water pollution as the discharge of toxic substances into our waterbodies – lakes, estuaries, rivers, streams and oceans – to the point where these elements interfere with the beneficial use of water or with the natural functioning of ecosystems.
As well as the discharge of undesirable substances, such as microorganisms or chemicals into water bodies, water pollution also involves the release of radioactivity, heat, and energy. Water bodies gets polluted by a wide range of substances, such as
- Plant nutrients;
- Radioactive Substances;
- Pathogenic Microorganisms;
- Petroleum (oil);
- Heat;
- Sediments putrescible organic waste;
- Toxic chemicals
Now is the time to take preventive measures through appropriate infrastructure and management plans. The infrastructure includes wastewater treatment plants, which are often necessary to prevent water channels from being contaminated with untreated waste. It is possible to reduce water pollution if we are able to control erosion from construction sites and treat agricultural wastewater.
The use of nature-based solutions can also reduce water pollution. For instance, it is important to keep an eye on urban runoff, which reduces the volume and speed of water flow. It is possible to reduce water pollution through a number of excellent management practices, including reducing water quantity and improving water quality.
If the problem exists, then the solution will be, too. All we have to do is identify the problem, analyze the nature of the problem, and then take appropriate action. This is all from my side; with this I rest my speech. Thank You!

Respected Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers and My Dear Friends – Welcome to all of you here I – Aarti Shukla, from Class – X (A), say welcome everyone to our school hall. May this morning bring you all positive vibes and good vibes. This is my first time addressing Water Pollution in a formal setting.
Life on earth wouldn’t be possible without water, as we all understand. It is for this reason that every drop of water matters. Every day, we use water for almost all our household chores and for other commercial purposes.
However, we do not make the best use of this important resource and still waste it. We misuse water and use it recklessly, and we also cause water pollution. In the oceans and rivers, garbage, industrial waste, and other remnants of used items are being dumped, contaminating the water. Also, toxic chemicals that leak from factories and pesticides used in agriculture end up in water, further polluting it.
Water quality is further degraded due to the inefficient water supply system and the contact of the water supply line with sewage. Water contamination threatens human life, animal life, and fish life. In fact, poor and underdeveloped countries face major problems with water scarcity and water pollution due to the lack of a suitable waste disposal system and the poor quality of water supply and treatment systems.
In the lake and river, garbage is thrown directly into the water. In the world, almost a third of the population does not have access to clean drinking water. As a result, diarrhea and other water-borne diseases are spread. Among poor, underdeveloped countries with high poverty rates, this disease is quite common.
The problem of water pollution is rare in developed countries. The major cause of water pollution in such countries is the unwarranted use of pesticides in order to protect agricultural harvests. Unlike underdeveloped countries where the cost of disposal and water treatment is often unaffordable, the problem of water pollution in these countries does not arise from a faulty garbage management system.
The problem of water crisis affects all nations more or less equally, regardless of whether they are underdeveloped or developed. Garbage dumping and the disposal of toxic waste should be strictly prohibited. To prevent misuse of water, the government should use water conservation techniques and teach people how to use them. I will end this with words that save water, before the time comes when we won’t be having even a drop of water to drink. Thank You!

Good Morning Dear Members and Children. We face an urgent water crisis, so we need to find an immediate solution. To combat the situation in this hot climate, we will all have to work together. It is also my intention to make everybody realize how much water is important to us that we need to avoid misusing it, especially children.
Water is without a doubt an “Elixir of Life”. Don’t you think so? As the name implies, elixirs are magical liquids that can cure illness and give people immortal youth. Water is the basis of life and life cannot exist without it. pH of water is neutral, which makes it an ideal trilogical solvent. A pure drop of water is colorless, odorless, and tasteless.
Among the many causes of water pollution are industrial pollution, domestic pollution, chemical pollution, biological pollution, etc. Water pollution is the result of physical or chemical changes in its properties that negatively impact human health, as well as the health of other organisms. Presently, water pollution is a major concern worldwide. Different countries and regions have varying levels of pollution. Several epidemics are linked to contaminated water in developing countries.
Water pollution can be classified by its type or source of contamination, such as:
- Bacterial Pollution
- Nutrient Pollution
- Pesticide Pollution
- Metallic Pollution
- Thermal Pollution
- Viral Pollution
- Radioactive Pollution
- Petrochemical Pollution
Natural or manmade activities can pollute water.
We can thus overcome water pollution by recognizing and controlling the causes that lead to water pollution.

Water Pollution Speech for 9th & 10th Class Students
I – Rajesh Kumar, warmly welcome all the members of our society.. Despite the fact that this is Day 2 of the Save Water Campaign, our speech giving ceremony is still going strong. Many people are becoming aware of this and are trying to save as much water as possible by reducing the use of water. I am surprised at the maturity of our children, who use water wisely and do not waste it.
Despite this, we must not only deal with the water crisis, but also combat water pollution. As I discussed in my last speech the sources of water pollution, I would like to continue with the same here and list a few more:
Fertilizers and Detergent: Chemical fertilizers are typically composed of nitrogen, phosphate, and potash. They are non-biodegradable and when they come into contact with water bodies due to the surface sun off, they pose a great threat to aquatic life.
Detergents are commonly known as the washing articles. A complex phosphate is made up of phosphates and other chemicals that breakdown. When phosphates are absorbed by aquatic plants, they naturally increase the concentration of phosphorus in wastewater. Detergents greatly affect fish and invertebrates.
Thermal Pollution: In many industrial processes, water is used for cooling, and the resulting warmed water is injected into lakes and streams. Atomic energy plants and oil and coal-fired generators emit a tremendous amount of waste heat that is carried away in hot water and contributes to thermal pollution.
Toxic Metals: The discharge of heavy metals throughout iron and steel factories, mining operations, and metallurgical laboratories is caused by several heavy metals including copper, zinc, mercury, lead, chromium, and arsenic. As a result of anaerobic breakdown of organic waste, mercury compounds present in water are converted into dimethyl and monomethyl mercury.
Suspended Solids: These are physical pollutants that affect water. In many ways, fine sediments like silt, surface runoff, and others end up in rivers. The presence of silt in water increases its turbidity, harming its productivity and aquatic life.
Biochemical Oxygen Demand (B.O.D.) Organic waste is a component of water bodies that utilize dissolved oxygen. In a unit volume of water, BOD is the amount of oxygen needed for biochemical oxidation by microorganisms. With an increase in organic waste input, the oxygen demand rises. As a result, BOD is a measure of oxygen per gram of organic matter present in water.
This task is performed by aerobic decomposers. In other words, the BOD value is directly related to the amount of organic matter that has been oxidized. As a result, BOD serves as a measure of water pollution.
The five factors listed above are also contributing factors to water pollution, so we need to know about them in order to keep them in check. I will end my speech here with the message and request to our people that come what may we needed to save water to ensure the survival of our future generations.
